Danube smoked crumb is a unique product, from a fish found only in the Black Sea. It has the most healthy Omega 3 fats and helps lower cholesterol. It is a traditional product in the Danube Delta with a preparation that is over 100 years old. This species of fish is found only in the Black Sea, being adapted to the unique conditions of this area. They row in the spring, where they wait more time to acclimatize in fresh water and accumulate fat necessary for the migration from the Black Sea to the Danube to reproduce, and do not feed all the way back. It is salted and cold smoked with hardwood sawdust. Products with a Geographical Indication have a higher quality standard. They are subject to periodic control and monitoring by the European Commission, to ensure that the traditional recipe and authentic ingredients are respected.
